The latest in the GOLDSCAN line of ground cancelling and target identifying P.I. metal detectors.
The previous GOLDSCAN models started in 1982 with the GOLDSCAN 1, which was the first P.I. metal detector with true GROUND BALANCING circuitry. Only a few of these advanced detectors were made, as it proved rather complex, mechanically, to manufacture. GOLDSCAN 2 followed it, and was very popular for some years, both as a beach machine, and inland on iron mineralised soil. In 1992, the GS2 was superceded by the lightweight, and shaft mounted NEW GOLDSCAN, or GOLDSCAN 4, with the belt mounted battery pack. Production of this model continued through to 1997. What happened to GOLDSCAN 3? This was a high power 24V custom version of the Goldscan 2, which was only made to special order.
After a gap of 8 years, the GOLDSCAN was re-introduced in 2005, with many enhanced and improved features, as the
GOLDSCAN 5
. It has been finalized in version 5C. Below is a list of some of the technical features that make this a unique detector.
BELT MOUNTED CONTROL BOX. With a size of 4.75in x 8in x 3in and weighing just over 3.25lbs., the control box houses the transmitter and receiver circuitry and the 14.8V 4250mAh Lithium rechargeable pack . Also, the charging control circuitry for the battery, is inside the box. The control box is rain, spray, and dustproof, for reliable outdoor use.
